Episode: Ambergris (S4 E18)

Favorite Moment: Tina's solution to Louise's madness.

Favorite Quote:

Linda: Rich people run funny. Do you think it's all that money in their pockets, or their big golden wieners?

Eh... it's probably their wieners.

Bob: Yeah.

Ambergris is a an ingredient that used to be used in perfume production, and it is made in the stomach of a whale. When a whale eats a squid it's stomach secrets a waxy covering over the squid to help it digest the squid. Think like a pearl... but way more disgusting.

The Belcher kids find a large lump of ambergris and try to sell it on the black market for $30,000. Louise starts losing sleep thinking someone will steal the ambergris and effectively their money, and develops a crazy eye twitch.

This episode sees the return of Mickey, the guy who held Bob hostage in a bank robbery in season 2. Mickey sees the ambergris as an opportunity to end his life of crime, set him self straight, and buy a bar.

This episode also introduces a new character: Felix Fischoeder, the younger dramatic brother of Mr. Fischoeder, the Belcher's eccentric eye-patched landlord. Felix is given the task of fixing the plumbing in the restaurants restroom, and instead redesigns the restroom to be the nicest room in the restaurant.

Felix is voiced by Zach Galifianakis.

My brother, his girlfriend, and my sister came to visit, and so I got to make some extra burgers... and a shit ton of fries. I have never made so many fries. This burger was simple to make, and had a lot of great ingredients. I felt bad that they had to wait so long for the food, but we started the night out with margaritas, and the hours flew by. For me. Because I was cooking.

To Err is Cumin has a patty that has been stuffed with chopped jalapeño peppers and spiced with cumin. It's served with arugula, tomato, avocado, and topped with a cilantro lime mayonnaise.

I diced up the jalapeño peppers first, and took all the seeds out, as instructed, and mixed it in with the meat to make the patties. I put what I thought was an obscene amount of cumin in them as well.

Next, I sliced up the avocado, and covered it in lime juice. I went to try a slice and forgot that I had chopped up the peppers, and thought holy shit that's a hot avocado... like an idiot.

The mayonnaise is mixed together with freshly squeezed lime juice and chopped cilantro.

The burgers were not as spicy as I thought they would be... if you are at home... following along... trying to make burgers by my unknowing guidance... I would recommend leaving the seeds in. And making extra mayo... it really is the star of the show. Mayo almost always is.

And drinking more margaritas... because they're so fun.
