Carly Simon: You look like Carly Simon.

Work Hard or Die Trying, Girl is one of my favorite episodes. The story and concept is amazing, and the song at the end gets me every time.

Ms. LaBonz refuses to have the school do "Grease" again, and invites students to submit original musicals for the school play.
Gene submits "Die Hard: The Musical" and his former girlfriend/annoying human being, Courtney Wheeler submits "Working Girl: The Musical." LaBonz chooses Working Girl on the principle that Courtney's dad claims that he knows Carly Simon and that she has agreed to come to the show.
Gene is despondent, until Louise suggests that they put on a guerrilla/protest musical in the school's boiler room. He tries hard to get the cast to perform his dream show, but when they fail to live up to his expectations he changes the show to "Die Hard: A One Gene Show"

As the upstairs auditorium empties, Courtney's dad realizes what is happening and storms into the boiler room, throwing a shoulder pad at Gene and creating a huge fight.
After arguments and negotiations with guidance counselor Mr. Frond the students come together to create "Work Hard or Die Trying, Girl: the Musical" a hilarious combination of Die Hard and Working Girl which they perform at the end.

Carly Simon makes an appearance at the end, and it is one of my favorite credit scenes ever.

I freaking love this episode so much.

I was very nervous about this burger. I don't like brussel sprouts that much... really I am trying to get past some of the burgers that sound gross to me. I have to make 6 a month in order to make it through the cookbook before New Years. I am trying to do a combination of burgers that sound good to me... and some that don't.

Do The Brussel is an all beef patty, sitting on sour cream and thick cut apple smoked bacon, topped with brussel sprouts and chopped pistachios that have been sautéed in bacon fat. My first step was to wash and chop the brussel sprouts.

Then I chopped up these pistachios, which were already shelled when I bought them. I think the colors are really beautiful. I ate a bunch of them while I was chopping them.

I bought bacon from the meat counter... so you know it's gonna be good. I honestly never want to buy the prepackaged shit again.
After cooking the bacon, I cooked the brussel sprouts in the leftover bacon fat. Which is always a great idea. Once they were nicely browned I added in the pistachios.

For some reason I was really feelin' these buns. They just looked so damn good. And I toasted them perfectly, if I may be so humble.

Here is how I built the burger: sour cream and bacon on the bottom bun, then burger, then some more bacon (cause why the hell not?) then covered the burger with the brussel/pistachio mixture.

I don't like brussel sprouts. They smell like farts to me. But I would happily eat this burger again.
