Episode: My Big Fat Greek Bob (S4 E4)
Favorite Moment: When the Belcher children slide down a laundry shoot, and Tina subsequently wears some frat boy's underwear on the outside of her skirt for the rest of the episode.
Favorite Quote: (Referencing "Lady Goods") "This one is called 'Here Comes the Sun' it's solar powered, so you leave it on your porch all day" - Gretchen

Bob goes back to college, but only to cook for a frat house.

Bob learns that the Beta house has an alum who just won't stay away, and it's none other than the Belcher's crazy dentist- Dr. Yap. (Voiced by Ken Jeong) The fraternity wages a prank war against the Alpha's until it comes to light that the war was only ever created and spurred on by Dr Yap.

Meanwhile Linda gets roped into helping Gretchen host a "Lady Goods" party... only to discover the lady goods are in fact dildos.

The Leek of Their Own Burger serves six, so it was the first time really anyone other than my wife, or one of my sisters, got to enjoy a burger inspired by Bob Belcher.
The Leek of Their own is a lamb burger, stuffed with feta and garlic, sitting on mustard greens, and covered with a mustard leek sauce. Served with potato leek soup.
I was super nervous that things wouldn't turn out great... because I had never made a lamb burger before... and it takes a long time to make everything.
My friends were disappointed that the burger was served with soup instead of these hand-cut fries I have been making every week. So I made French fries to hold them over while I made the soup and burgers.
The leeks are cooked into a soup, which later is used to make a sauce for the burgers... kind of strange... but stick with me...

Leeks. They are like big fat sweet scallions. Kinda.
I had to look up how to cut and prepare them, and I am glad I did... or things could have turned out rather poorly.
The soup called for four... which I thought was a lot, until I realized you only use a small part of the leek.
Once you remove the dark green part you are not left with much.

You cut the leek in half. Hot-dog-style as they tell the preschoolers.

Next, you chop up the halves and let them soak in cold water, to get some of the dirt out from between the close layers.

After they have soaked for a while, you scoop them out into a colander (don't dump... because then you are only adding the dirt back to the top of them) and rinse once more. Then they cook, similarly to onions, with copious amounts of butter.

Next, I added in chopped yellow potatoes, and vegetable broth, and let that simmer while my friends played games, and my almost 3 year old repeated everything they said -verbatim.

The soup required fresh chopped thyme... and I was failing miserably at it, so my friend Jorgy (Christopher Jorgensen) de-stemmed and chopped my thyme. Here is a photo to give him due credit.

Once the potatoes were soft, the vegetable broth was drained, and the soft leeks and potatoes were put through the food processor.

Next I added in heavy cream, salt, pepper, and thyme -a-la-jorgy.

Then, I set myself to the task of cooking the burgers. I had a conundrum about how to divide 3 one pound cubes of ground lamb into 8 patties. My friend Amy suggested splitting them into 9, and dividing the last portion into 8, making the burgers a little bigger.

The lamb burger was stuffed with feta (from the good cheese part of Target) and garlic. I wasn't certain how lamb would cook compared to beef... but they were pretty close.

Next, I cut up some mustard greens (which are a slightly peppery kind of lettuce... I think.. that's what it tasted like to me... but what do I know? I'm not Julia freakin' Child)

And mixed some of the potato leek soup with some Dijon mustard as a sauce for the burgers.

The soup turned out great... but I wish there had been more to go around. The burgers were effing amazing if I do say so myself. The lamb was tender, the feta was present as a delicious undertone, and the leek mustard sauce was both subtly sweet and mustard-y for lack of a better word.

All in all this was a great experience for me, and my friends got to eat by 8:30... when I thought it may be 10. It was a great Leek of Their Own for a League of My Own... if I may be so sappy.
